TBILISI, April 2, 2008 (AFP) - The Georgian Football Federation has decided to sack the country's national coach Klaus Topmoller of Germany, the federation press service reported Wednesday.

Federation chief Nodar Akhalkatsi said that the federation had finalised the details of the cancellation of the contract in agreement with Topmoller.

Akhalkatsi added that the federation had already reviewed several candidates to replace Topmoller.

'We were really upset with our team's performance in the Euro-2008 qualifying campaign,' Akhalkatsi said. 'I believe we need to find somebody else to improve our performances.'

In the 2008 European championship qualifying Group B Georgia finished sixth, one place above the bottom-placed Faroe Islands.
