SAINT-DENIS-DE-LA REUNION, June 5, 2008 (AFP) - A court of appeals in the French territory of Reunion on Thursday sentenced Comoros rebel leader Mohamed Bacar to a three month suspended jail term after finding him guilty of importing weapons.

Bacar and his followers fled to the Indian Ocean island after the Comoros army, backed by an African Union international force, invaded the island in the Comoros archipelago that he had made his stronghold.
