BERLIN, June 8, 2008 (AFP) - German authorities detained two women having oral sex in a pedestrian zone in the western city of Krefeld after shocked weekend shoppers reported them, police said Sunday.

Police said in a report entitled 'Sex in the City' that the naked lovers, aged 29 and 40, were heavily intoxicated and appeared oblivious to the crowd that gathered around them at around 9.00 am (0700 GMT) Saturday.

They flew into a rage when officers approached them.

'Officers who arrived at the scene after the act were greeted with obscene gestures' and insults, the report said. 'Their morning sex ended with them being taken into custody.'

The pair face charges of creating a public disturbance and defamation using vulgar language.
