LOS ANGELES, June 9, 2008 (AFP) - Harrison Ford will play a scientist racing to find a cure for two children suffering from a rare genetic disorder in his next film, it was reported on Monday.
Ford, the 65-year-old star of this year's money-spinning fourth 'Indiana Jones' film, will swap his bullwhip and fedora for a microscope for his role in 'Crowley,' which is based on a true story, Daily Variety reported.
The film tells the story of John and Aileen Crowley, who overcame huge odds to help find a cure for Pompe disease, a rare condition that the couple's two youngest children had been diagnosed with.
Ford, who will also work as an executive producer on the film, plays a researcher with a potential cure for the disorder.
The movie is based on a book by Wall Street Journal reporter Geeta Anand, 'The Cure,' which documented the Crowley's case.
Ford's next film will be opposite Sean Penn in immigration drama 'Crossing Over.'
