Maersk Line orders 16 container ships from Daewoo

COPENHAGEN, July 3, 2008 (AFP) - Maersk Line of Denmark, the world's biggest maritime transporter, said Thursday it had ordered 16 container ships from Daewoo Shipbuilding of South Korea.

The vessels, capable of carrying up to 1,700 refrigerated containers, are to be delivered by Daewoo between 2010 and 2012.

No financial details were disclosed.
