LUSAKA, July 5, 2008 (AFP) - Zambian President Levy Mwanawasa who is hospitalised in France will undergo a second medical review next week after suffering a stroke, his deputy announced Saturday.

Mwanawasa was examined by French doctors on Friday at the Percy Military Hospital in Paris, said Rupiah Banda, Zambia's vice president.

'He continues to receive treatment for hypertension in Paris. His next review is due on Monday,' Banda said, adding that the president's condition remained stable.

Mwanawasa, 59, suffered a stroke while attending an African Union meeting in Egypt and was later evacuated to France for specialised treatment.
