FARNBOROUGH, July 15, 2008 (AFP) - Russian aircraft maker Sukhoi signed a deal here on Tuesday to sell 24 of its Superjet 100 passenger planes worth a total of 672 million dollars (421 million euros) to Russian leasing group Avialeasing.

Sukhoi announced the terms of the deal at a press conference held at the Farnborough International Airshow, outside London, which was staging the second day of its week-long event.

The Superjet, under construction at a Sukhoi factory in far eastern Russia, had its maiden flight in May. So far there have been 73 orders for the plane, which each sell for about 28 million dollars.

Sukhoi hopes to sell 800 Superjets by 2024, with 300 going to Russian companies and 500 to foreign firms. France's Snecma and Italy's Alenia are also part of the Superjet project.
