FARNBOROUGH, July 15, 2008 (AFP) - European planemaker Airbus said here Tuesday it had agreed to sell 23 single-aisle A320 aircraft, together worth about 1.8 billion dollars (1.13 billion euros), to US lessor Aviation Capital Group.

'With this strategic decision, we have strengthened our long-term delivery stream of new aircraft, which allows us to continue to meet the future demand of our customer airlines worldwide with the most modern, fuel-efficient and environmentally friendly aircraft,' ACG managing director Stephen Hannahs said in a statement.

The deal was announced on the second day of the Farnborough International Airshow, outside London.
