PETALING JAYA, August 4, 2008 (AFP) - Two-time Asian Tour number one Thongchai Jaidee of Thailand, South Korea's Mo Joong-kyung and Malaysia's Danny Chia will tee off this week here at the Worldwide Selangor Masters.

The 310,000-dollar event, part of the Asian Tour, begins at the par-71 Seri Selangor Golf Club on Wednesday with Taiwan's Lin Wen-tang, and Malaysia's Airil Rizman and Iain Steel also in action.

The Selangor course, making its debut on the Tour, marks the beginning of the second half of the Asian Tour season, with 15 tournaments to be played from now until December.

'The continued growth of professional golf will see the Asian Tour hitting a new record in terms of tournaments played and prize money offered,' said Asian Tour Executive Chairman Kyi Hla Han.

Other Tour events will be held this year in Japan, Indonesia, Cambodia, India, Vietnam, China and Thailand.

South Korea's Mo, who in June won the Thailand PGA Championship for his second Asian Tour title, predicted the Selangor course's firm fairways and difficult greens could be tricky.

'During the practice round in Thailand, I found it really tough and I was trying to keep the ball in play.

'It is the same feeling that I have here where I have to keep the ball on the fairway and land it on target on the green,' he said.
