MEXICO CITY, August 5, 2008 (AFP) - UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon said Tuesday the United States should abide by the ruling of the International Court of Justice and stay the scheduled execution of a Mexican prisoner in Texas.

'All decisions and orders of the International Court of Justice must be respected by states. The United States should take every step to make sure the execution does not take place,' Ban was quoted as saying by local television.
