WASHINGTON, August 14, 2008 (AFP) - US Defense Secretary Robert Gates emphatically ruled out the use of US military force Thursday in the conflict betwween Russia and Georgia.

'I dont see any prospect for the use of military force by the United States in this situation,' Gates said at a Pentagon news conference.
