BIRKENFELD, August 16, 2008 (AFP) - Italian driver Gigi Galli is doubtful for the rest of the season after undergoing surgery on a broken leg, his team boss Malcolm Wilson told www.wrc.com on Saturday.

Galli, eighth in the championship, broke his left femur in a dramatic crash on Friday when his car slammed into a tree stump during the Rally of Germany.

The Italian was air-lifted to a nearby hospital where he successfully underwent surgery to repair the bone, and is now unlikely to take any further part in this year's World Rally championship.

'He won't be able to walk on it for six weeks, so realistically it?s looking difficult for the rest of the season,' said Stobart team boss Wilson.
