SUNDERLAND, August 26, 2008 (AFP) - Sunderland manager Roy Keane hopes to complete the signing of Anton Ferdinand after revealing the West Ham defender will have a medical with the club on Tuesday.

Ferdinand, the brother of Manchester United and England star Rio, has been told he can leave Upton Park after the Hammers accepted a bid of around eight million pounds (10 million euros) from Keane.

West Ham boss Alan Curbishley is reportedly unhappy that the transfer has been forced through without his agreement, but Keane expects to conclude the move imminently.

'Anton is up today (Tuesday) for a medical and we hope to get that tied up today,' Keane said.

However, a hamstring injury means Ferdinand will not be involved in Wednesday's League Cup second-round trip to Nottingham Forest or Sunday's Premier League clash with Manchester City.

'He's had a slight hamstring strain, so it would be unfair to throw him straight in,' Keane said.

'There is an international break coming up, so it would give him a chance to train with us for two weeks.'
