BERLIN, September 13, 2008 (AFP) - A Turkish man suspected of providing support to Al-Qaeda has been arrested in Germany, prosecutors in the southwestern city of Karlsruhe said Saturday.
The 30-year-old, identified only as Omer O., is alleged to have undergone training in an Al-Qaeda camp in 2006 and to have procured an unspecified liquid, a bullet-proof waistcoat and a laptop computer for the organisation.
The items were said to have been handed over to Al-Qaeda militants on the Afghan-Pakistan border.
O was also believed to have tried to recruit for Al-Qaeda on the instructions of a German of Pakistani origin identified as Aleem N., who has been in custody in Germany since February, prosecutors said.
