GLASGOW, Sept 18, 2008 (AFP) - Kenny Miller has said the pain of missing out on this week's first round proper of the Champions League has only fuelled Rangers's desire to wrest the Scottish title from arch-rivals Celtic.
Rangers exited European club football's premier competition after a 2-1 aggregate defeat at the hands of Lithuanian minnows FBK Kaunas in the second qualifying round.
Now the only way for the Ibrox side to escape similar embarrassment next season is to gain automatic entry into the main draw by winning the Scottish Premier League from fellow Glasgow giants Celtic.
'We are still disappointed by that result,' Miller told the Scottish Sun.
'If anything, it hits home even harder this week with the Champions League starting again,' the Scotland striker added.
'We know we should be playing in it. A club of this size, with the squad we have, should have got through,' the former Celtic forward explained.
'It's done now and we just have to make sure we are crowned champions and go straight into the Champions League group stage.
'That's got to be our goal.'
