ALGIERS, Oct 2, 2008 (AFP) - At least 13 people have been killed and nearly 600 homes destroyed by flash floods in Algeria's Ghardaia region, state radio announced on Thursday.
Wednesday's floods followed incessant rain in the area, about 500 kilometres (300 miles) south of the seaside capital Algiers, it said.
One other person was reported missing and other casualties were feared, it added.
