BERLIN, Oct 6, 2008 (AFP) - Hamburg defender Marcell Jansen has pulled out of Germany's squad for World Cup qualifiers against Russia on Saturday and Wales four days later because of a left thigh injury, the German federation (DFB) said.

The 22-year-old player, who has played 28 times for the national team, got injured in Hamburg's 2-1 German league victory at Energie Cottbus on Sunday.
