LISBON, Oct 6, 2008 (AFP) - Manuel Fernandes was called up by Portugal coach Carlos Queiroz on Monday in a 23-man squad for World Cup matches against Sweden and Albania on October 11 and 15.

Midfielder Fernandes, not in Queiroz's initial squad unveiled on Friday, joins Manchester United striker Cristiano Ronaldo and Inter Milan front man Ricardo Quaresma in the squad.
