LONDON, Oct 7, 2008 (AFP) - The London stock market rose 1.50 percent at the start of trading on Tuesday, one day after plunging 7.86 percent in a global equities rout on fears about the global financial crisis.

The British capital's FTSE 100 index of top shares advanced to stand at 4,658.20 points in intitial trade.
