REYKJAVIK, Oct 8, 2008 (AFP) - Iceland's economic recovery from the current financial crisis will take years, Prime Minister Geir Haarde told journalists on Wednesday as the country's economy threatened to collapse.

Asked how long the recovery would take, Haarde replied: 'Years, but probably not very many.'

'We're optimistic, we have a positive attitude.'
