LOS ANGELES, Oct 11, 2008 (AFP) - Philadelphia Phillies manager Charlie Manuel will be with his team Sunday when they face the Los Angeles Dodgers in game three of the National League Championship Series, despite the recent death of his mother.

Manuel's mother, June, died on Friday at the age of 87, just hours before game two of the best-of-seven series in Philadelphia, which the Phillies won to take a 2-0 lead.

Manuel then flew to Los Angeles with the team, and Phillies general manager Pat Gillick said the manager won't miss any games in the series but will attend her funeral next Friday in Virginia.

If the Phillies must play a game five on Wednesday, the team will provide a private jet to fly to Virginia after that game.

If a game six is needed it would be on Friday in Philadelphia, and Manuel would travel from the funeral to the contest, Gillick said.

Despite Manuel's family concerns, Gillick said the manager was fully focused on baseball when he needed to be.

'He told me coming out that his mom would want him to be here,' Gillick said. 'Naturally, I think when you go back to the hotel or you're riding back to the hotel you've certainly got to think about it. But I think when he's here in his office, on the bench and making a decision on the field, he's all baseball.'
