Anglo-Dutch energy giant Royal Dutch Shell on Wednesday named chief financial officer Peter Voser as its new chief executive.
`The board of Royal Dutch Shell today announced that Peter Voser will succeed Jeroen van der Veer as Chief Executive, effective 1 July, 2009,` Shell said in a statement.
Swiss-born Voser, 50, joined the company in 1982 and has been a director of the board since October 2004.
`I am delighted to announce Peter Voser as the next Chief Executive of Royal Dutch Shell,` group chairman Jorma Ollila said in the statement.
`Peter has the experience, qualities and personal leadership to drive Shell forward, building on the strong position established by Jeroen van der Veer.`
Voser`s appointment followed a review of internal and external candidates, the company added.
Shell was meanwhile due to unveil its third-quarter results on Thursday.
