Chechnya`s strongman president Ramzan Kadyrov invited Libyan leader Moamer Kadhafi to visit the war-torn Russian region in 2010, Kadyrov`s spokesman was quoted as saying by the RIA Novosti news agency.

`Ramzan Kadyrov said (during a Sunday meeting with Kadhafi in Moscow) that Moamer Kadhafi celebrates the Prophet (Mohammed)`s birthday each year in a Muslim country, and so invited the Libyan leader to visit Chechnya in 2010,` Lyoma Gudayev said.

`The invitation was accepted with gratitude,` the spokesman said, without elaborating.

Kadhafi visited Russia at the weekend in his first trip here since the collapse of the Soviet Union.
