Kenya on Tuesday named a panel to probe the national cricket team`s poor performance in recent months in a bid to improve standards, a top official said.

Cricket Kenya (CK) chief Tom Tikolo said the panel, led by veteran cricket administrator Jasmer Singh, will also assess national cricket policies and programmes.

Kenya is still reeling from a series of dismal showings in international cricket, including a 2-0 whitewash in South Africa earlier this week. The under-fire team has not won any tournament since clinching the World Cricket League division one title in February 2007.

`The task force is mandated to carry out a detailed inquiry into various matters including the results of matches played over the past 12 months and the overall performance of the team players,` said Tikolo in a statement.

`It will also report on the structure, performance and responsibilities of the national team`s selection and coaching staff and make recommendations on remumerations for the contracted players.`
