India`s ruling Congress party Wednesday hailed Barack Obama`s US presidential victory, saying his `youthful energy` was in tune with the dynamism of an emerging India.
Party spokesman Abhishek Manu Singhvi said he was confident that rapidly warming India-US ties would grow stronger under Obama`s leadership.
`Obama represents youthful energy, exuberant dynamism and a forward-looking progressive mindset which is also the spirit animating India,` Singhvi said.
Ties between New Delhi and Washington were boosted recently by the conclusion of a landmark civilian nuclear deal pushed through by outgoing President George W. Bush and Indian Premier Manmohan Singh.
Singhvi noted that there was bi-partisan US support for even greater cooperation between the two democracies and `relations are therefore not dependent on the personality or political affiliation of any US president.`
