Around 20 rockets were fired Wednesday morning from the Gaza Strip into southern Israel, a military spokeswoman said.

She did not say whether there were any casualties.

The rocket fire came hours after five Palestinians were killed in Israeli air strikes over the territory in the most serious incident since a truce went into effect in and around Gaza in June.
