UN war crimes prosecutor Serge Brammertz arrived in Belgrade Sunday to meet with Serb officials amid pressure for Serbia to arrest two fugitives, local news agency Tanjug reported.

Brammetz will meet Monday with Rasim Llajic, the Serb minister in charge of cooperation with the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY).

The ICTY has called on Serb authorities to capture the last two fugitives of the court, former Bosnian Serb general Ratko Mladic and former Croatian Serb leader Goran Hadzic.

Brammertz`s visit comes just days after Serbian police conducted a fruitless search for Mladic in a factory in the country`s southwest.

Mladic, wanted for genocide over some of the worst atrocities in Europe since World War II, and Hadzic, are widely thought to be hiding out in Serbia with the help of small, tightly knit networks of loyalists.

Brammertz will submit to the United Nations Security Council next month a report on Serbia`s cooperation.

Serbia`s hopes of joining the European Union ride on the capture of the two fugitives.
