Scotland`s Colin Montgomerie on Wednesday said he wanted to play at least until 2015 before retiring, giving him another seven years finally to win a Major.

Montgomerie, 45, admitted he was `languishing` after dropping out of the top 100, but said he planned to break back into the game`s elite and stay there until his 10-year European tour exemption expires.

`I still feel that without question, I should be in the top 50. It`s just a matter of proving it, mainly to myself,` he said ahead of this week`s Hong Kong Open.

`I`m exempt through to 2015 on this tour, and I would intend to be playing golf until that stage.

`I`ll be 52 then. If I can get back in that top 50 and remain there for the next six years I`ll be very happy, so that`s a goal.`

Montgomerie, who earned a 10-year European tour exemption for winning his eighth order of merit in 2005, has never won a Major despite finishing second or joint second five times.

He said he had added the Volvo China Open in Beijing and South Korea`s Ballantine`s Championship, both in April, to next year`s schedule as he bids to improve his ranking.

`To get back in the top 50, I`ve got to play in some tournaments that I might not have had on the schedule before because I`m not into certain world events and certain Majors,` he said.

`You`ll probably find me playing in some obscure locations more than I would do normally, but that`s what I`ve got to do to get back into the scene here and to get back into the top 50 in the world.`

Montgomerie won the Hong Kong Open in 2005 and said he had been boosted by a good omen on Wednesday.

`The last time I won the Hong Kong Open in 2005, I won the pro-am, and I`ve just won the pro-am again,` he said.

`You can see the thing written, it`s in the stars now!`
