Moscow`s local government is set to stage all previously scheduled sports events at the city`s venues next year despite the world financial crisis, according to the city`s deputy mayor, Sergei Baidakov.

`Moscow mayor Yury Luzhkov confirmed recently that none of the sports events that were scheduled for Moscow next year will be cancelled,` Baidakov said Wednesday.

`We are currently updating the city`s budget for the next year but all our obligations will definitely remain valid.`

He added that all of the next year`s international competitions scheduled to be staged in Moscow will indeed take place.

`The stages of the World Cup in speed skating, freestyle and skiing will take place here along with the figure skating Grand Prix event,` Baidakov said. `The holding of summer events also doesn`t raise any questions.`

The deputy mayor added that Moscow would continue bidding for the right to host the 2013 world swimming championships.

`I believe that the world financial crisis will make Moscow one of the most attractive places for holding top-class international sports events,` Baidakov said.
