A Polish university lecturer was allegedly stabbed to death by a teenager in the Central Asian state of Kyrgyzstan, the interior ministry of the ex-Soviet republic said Wednesday.
Maciej Jozek Chowanek, who was born in 1980, was stabbed at his home and died overnight in a hospital in the Kyrgz capital Bishkek, the ministry said in a statement.
`A suspect in the crime has been arrested. It`s Tajik citizen Dalery Zolan,` born in 1992, the statement said, adding that the two met over the Internet.
Chowanek was teaching Polish at a university in Kyrgyzstan.
`According to the person who has been taken into detention... (the Polish teacher) started making advances on him, at which point Zolan took out a knife and stabbed him in the neck,` the statement said.
