Kyrgyz President Kurmanbek Bakiyev on Wednesday returned home from medical treatment in Germany after an absence of around a month, his press service said Thursday.
`President Kurmanbek Bakiyev on Wednesday returned after treatment in Germany,` a presidential statement said.
Bakiyev went to Germany on October 20 on a trip his press service said was aimed at undergoing the planned final stage of treatment for his leg joints in German clinics.
Media reports and the Kyrgyz opposition have said the 59-year-old leader of the Central Asian country suffers from a serious illness.
After his disappearance from public view in February and March provoked rumours he was dying, Bakiyev reappeared and said he had been undergoing treatment in Germany for leg problems.
Bakiyev led a revolution that ousted former president Askar Akayev in 2005, and since then the ex-Soviet republic has struggled to regain political stability.
