The National Football League slapped Minnesota Vikings defensive player Jared Allen with a 25,000 dollar fine Wednesday for an vicious hit on Green Bay quarterback Aaron Rodgers.
That brings Allen`s fine total to 75,000 dollars this season for illegal hits on opposing quarterbacks.
The NFL disciplinary officials said Allen used his helmet to level Rodgers in a November 9 game at the Metrodome stadium.
Allen was also fined 50,000 dollars earlier this year for a pair of low hits on Houston Texans quarterback Matt Schaub the week before the Green Bay game.
Allen met with NFL officials in New York on Tuesday. Allen signed a six-year, 72-million dollar contract with the Vikings at the beginning of this season.
Allen is just the latest in a string of Viking players to run afoul of the NFL`s disciplinary officials.
The NFL will hear on Thursday the appeal of all-star tackles Kevin Williams and Pat Williams who have tested positive under the league`s steroid and performance-enhancement policy.
