Daily walking boosts health, survival among the very old: study

PARIS, Sept 17, 2008 (AFP) - Octogenarians who walk an hour or more each day are less likely to die and or be prone to serious illness compared with less active counterparts, according to a study published on Wednesday.

The research was carried out among 248 Italian volunteers, living in a mountain community, whose average age was 85.9 years.

Hezbollah holds mock battle to mark death of leader's son

JABAL AL-RAFIE, September 13, 2008 (AFP) - Hezbollah staged a mock battle on Saturday night to reenact the death of Hadi Nasrallah, son of Hezbollah chief Hassan Nasrallah, who died in a military operation against Israel 11 years ago.

About 100 fighters took part, some acting as Israeli troops and others filling the role of their own Shiite militant group's guerrillas.

North Korea denounces 'criminal' military exercise

SEOUL, July 10, 2008 (AFP) - North Korea Thursday denounced a planned US-South Korean military exercise as a 'criminal act' which would raise tensions on the divided peninsula.

The comments were made at colonel-level talks between the two sides in the border truce village of Panmunjom, the North's official Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) reported.
