Football: African Nations Cup draw date changed

CAIRO, July 22, 2007 (AFP) - The 2008 African Nations Cup draw in Ghana has been moved forward one day to October 19, the organisers said Sunday.

Accra will host the event with 16 qualifiers divided into four groups from which winners and runners-up advance to the quarter-finals of a competition first staged 50 years ago in Sudan.

Ghana are guaranteed a place as host nation and Angola, Cameroon, Morocco, Nigeria, Sudan and Tunisia have also secured places with the final qualifying fixtures slated for the weekend before the draw.
