Football: Munich boss Rummenigge slams careless Bayern

Bayern Munich chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has accused the German giants of carelessness after allowing struggling Borussia Moenchengladbach to score two late goals in Saturday`s 2-2 draw.

A first-half goal from Italy striker Luca Toni and a second-half penalty from France midfielder Franck Ribery meant Bayern were 2-0 up at `Gladbach with barely 15 minutes left.

Football: Bayern deny signing child prodigy

MUNICH, Berlin, July 27, 2007 (AFP) - German giants Bayern Munich denied on Friday reports in the Spanish media they had signed 13-year-old Peruvian child prodigy Pier Larrauri.

'There is nothing at all to it,' Werner Kern, director of Bayern's junior sides, told German agency SID. 'The boy trained with us here twice and there is no contract.'

Football: "Bayern won't have it easy" - Loew

BERLIN, July 27, 2007 (AFP) - German coach Joachim Loew refused on Friday to label Bayern Munich as Bundesliga favourites and says they face a battle royal against their key rivals for the title when the new season begins on August 10.

Bayern have spent a reported 69 million euros building a 'dream team' packed with big names like German striker Miroslav Klose, French midfielder Franck Ribery and Italian World Cup winner Luca Toni.

Football: Santa Cruz could join Blackburn: manager

LONDON, July 27, 2007 (AFP) - Bayern Munich striker Roque Santa Cruz could join Blackburn in the next 24 hours according to Mark Hugues, the manager of the Premiership club.

Hughes said of the prospect of signing the 25-year-old Paraguay international: 'We are very hopeful something may happen in that respect. Maybe in the next 24 hours a deal could be concluded if the price is right.'

Hughes is already well-off for strikers, with Benni McCarthy, Jason Roberts and Matt Derbyshire and new recruit Maceo Rigters on his books.

Football: Bayern sign 13-year-old striker

LIMA, July 26, 2007 (AFP) - German giants Bayern Munich on Thursday signed a 13-year-old child who has been dubbed `the new Lionel Messi` by journalists.

Peruvian Pier Larrauri agreed a contract with Bayern after impressing on a month-long trial, said Jaime Noriega, the president of Esther Grande de Bentin, the youngster`s club.

Reporters in Peru have compared him to Argentina international Lionel Messi after putting in noteworthy performances in an attacking midfield role.

MUNICH, Germany, July 26, 2007 (AFP) - Bayern Munich coach Ottmar Hitzfeld insisted on Thursday he is refusing to get carried away despite his 'dream team' reaching Saturday`s German League Cup final in Leipzig.

Having spent a reported 69 million euros assembling a team of superstars over the summer, Bayern`s bosses have already been rewarded with convincing cup wins over Werder Bremen and last season`s German champions VfB Stuttgart.

Football: Injured Podolski vows to win back Bayern place

MUNICH, Germany, July 22, 2007 (AFP) - Injured Bayern Munich striker Lukas Podolski, voted the best young player at last year`s World Cup, has vowed on Sunday to win back his place with the German giants.

After Bayern spent a reported 69 million euros this summer to build their own `dream team` including strikers Italian World Cup winner Luca Toni and German veteran Miroslav Klose, injured Podolski, 22, was in danger of becoming a forgotten man.
