BLACKPOOL, England, Sept 30, 2007 (AFP) - China is the key to political change in Myanmar, not the United Nations envoy, former US ambassador to the UN John Bolton insisted Sunday.
However, there was little hope Beijing would change tack and put pressure on Myanmar's ruling military junta, Bolton said at the party conference of Britain's main opposition Conservatives in Blackpool, north-west England.
UN envoy Ibrahim Gambari has met members of the junta, but Bolton said it was unlikely his visit would achieve anything.
