Rugby League: Injury casts season doubt over Bradford's Deacon

LONDON, July 31, 2008 (AFP) - Bradford Bulls' captain Paul Deacon could miss the last five games of the season after suffering a hamstring injury, the club said on Thursday.

The 29-year-old scrum-half has struggled with the injury all season - missing seven weeks - but made a comeback two games ago.

Resolution scraps investment plan for Bradford & Bingley

LONDON, June 27, 2008 (AFP) - British investment group Resolution said Friday it had abandoned its funding plan for home-loans provider Bradford & Bingley because of opposition from management at the group it sought to buy.

The news sent B&B's share price tumbling by almost a quarter in value on the London Stock Exchange as prospects of a bidding competition disappeared.

Rugby League: Bradford star Hape to change codes

BRADFORD, England, May 26, 2008 (AFP) - Bradford Bulls star Shontayne Hape is set to change codes by quitting the Super League to join Premiership club Bath.

New Zealand international Hape, 26, has agreed a three-year deal contract with rugby union outfit Bath and will leave Bradford on June 30 after securing an early release.

Rugby League: Platt extends Bulls deal

LONDON, May 10, 2008 (AFP) - Bradford Bulls full-back Michael Platt confirmed on Saturday he has signed a new three-year contract.

The 24-year-old, who signed from Castleford in 2006, scoring 15 tries in 34 matches, will remain at the Grattan Stadium until the end of the 2011 season.

LONDON, July 27, 2007 (AFP) - Bradford star Iestyn Harris has set his sights on an emotional return to Wembley as his side prepare for their Challenge Cup showdown against St Helens on Saturday.

Harris captained the Leeds Rhinos to victory in the last Challenge Cup final to be played at Wembley in 1999 and, if Bradford can overcome Saints in the semi-finals, the stand-off will feature in the first at the newly rebuilt English national stadium.
