MARSEILLE, July 31, 2008 (AFP) - French prosecutors said Thursday they had opened an enquiry to determine whether a 10-year-old Franco-Mexican torero's planned appearance at a bullfight is legal.

Bullfighter Michelito is due to take part Saturday in a competition in the southern town of Fontvieille between youngsters from French, Spanish and Latin American bullfighting schools.

California man gored at Pamplona bull run: organisers

PAMPLONA, July 9, 2008 (AFP) - A 22-year-old California man was gored in the abdomen and a Greek citizen suffered a broken nose Wednesday on the third day of the annual running of the bulls in Pamplona, northern Spain, organisers said.

Both men were taken to hospital where the gored American was conscious and in stable condition, the organisers said in a statement.

PAMPLONA, July 7, 2008 (AFP) - Spanish police on Monday identified an Irish national who died after falling from a 30-metre (90-foot) high wall during the first day of the San Fermin festival in Pamplona, northeast Spain.

Aidan Holly, 23, died Sunday after he fell from the ancient wall that encircles the ancient centre of Pamplona.
