BREMEN, Germany, July 24, 2007 (AFP) - Ivory Coast international Boubacar Sanogo has waved goodbye to Hamburg`s boo boys and signed a four-year contract at Werder Bremen, the club announced on Tuesday.
The move away from Hamburg will be a relief for Sanogo who suffered at the hands of his own fans for most of last season and admitted the jeers damaged his confidence at the time.
The 24-year-old striker endured a torrid year at Hamburg and was courted by both Bremen and Bundesliga champions VfB Stuttgart before he finally signed for Werder.
OMDURMAN, Sudan, July 22, 2007 (AFP) - Nigerians Ezeh Ndubuisi and Yusuf Mohamed scored as Al-Hilal of Sudan snatched a vital 2-1 win over ASEC of Ivory Coast in the African Champions League Sunday.
Another `import`, Ghanaian Nafiu Iddrisu, equalised for ASEC soon after half-time in a tense Group B clash before a 40,000 crowd crammed into the National Stadium in steamy Omdurman.
It was a must-win match for Hilal and they overcame booing from their normally ultra partisan supporters before midfielder Mohamed grabbed the winner seven minutes from full-time.
