Comoran president says Morocco helped end Anjouan revolt

DAMASCUS, March 29, 2008 (AFP)- ) - Comoran President Ahmed Abdallah Sambi revealed that his country received military aid from Morocco to help crush a rebellion on Anjouan, in his address at an Arab summit in Damascus on Saturday.

'It is no secret that we won because Morocco provided all it could in military aid,' Sambi told delegates.

Court dismisses case against Comoros rebel leader

SAINT DENIS, Reunion, March 29, 2008 (AFP) - A court on the French island of Reunion on Saturday dismissed the case against the ousted leader of the Comoros island of Anjouan, Mohamed Bacar, but ordered him held in custody.

The decision also involved 23 other men, mostly soldiers. All will remain in custody for the time being, police said.

Comoros rebel leader to appear in court in Reunion

SAINT DENIS, Reunion, March 28, 2008 (AFP) - The ousted leader of the Comoros island of Anjouan, Mohamed Bacar, will appear in court in Reunion on Saturday along with 23 other men, mostly soldiers, the prosecutor said.

Bacar was driven out of Anjouan -- the third largest island in the Comoros archipelago -- on Tuesday by an African Union force after rejecting calls to step down.
