Oil giant BP says it is suing Russian partners in TNK-BP

LONDON, July 6, 2008 (AFP) - British oil giant BP is suing its Russian partners in TNK-BP, it confirmed Sunday, amid growing rifts in the joint venture.

A company spokesman confirmed to AFP that the action against Russian shareholders AAR over an alleged debt worth around 370 million dollars (236 million euros) would be heard at the High Court in London.

Swedish appeals court tries Ericsson officials for fraud: report

STOCKHOLM, July 6, 2008 (AFP) - Five officials in Sweden from mobile phone operator Ericsson are suspected of defrauding several billion kronor (millions of euros), Swedish agency TT reported on Sunday.

The five suspects allegedly created false bills between 1998 and 1999 in order to escape fiscal controls.

Shell may pull out of Zimbabwe: report

LONDON, July 6, 2008 (AFP) - Oil giant Royal Dutch Shell may pull out of operations in Zimbabwe, the Observer newspaper reported Sunday.

The report comes after British Prime Minister Gordon Brown last month called for businesses to look carefully at their involvement in the country, riven by violence over the disputed re-election of President Robert Mugabe.
