Emirates picks up Airbus superjumbo, orders more jets

HAMBURG, July 28, 2008 (AFP) - The Gulf airline Emirates took delivery on Monday of its first Airbus A380 superjumbo jet after repeated delays and promptly said it would buy 60 other planes from the European firm.

HAMBURG, July 28, 2008 (AFP) - The Gulf airline Emirates has signed a letter of intent to buy 60 more Airbus planes, comprising 30 A330-300s and 30 A350s, its chief executive Sheikh Ahmed ibn Said al-Maktum said here on Monday.

He was in this northern port city to take delivery of Emirates' first A380 super jumbo jet.

Turkey to buy six submarines worth 2.5 bln euros

Air China signs Boeing deal for 45 aircraft

FARNBOROUGH, July 17, 2008 (AFP) - US aircraft giant Boeing announced on Thursday a 6.3-billion-dollar (four-billion-euro) deal at catalogue prices to sell 30 medium-haul 737s and 15 long-haul 777s to state-owned Air China.

'These airplanes are the most fuel efficient in their classes,' said Kong Dong, chairman of Air China, the second largest commercial airline in China.

Airbus announces deal with South American Synergy for 10 aircraft

FARNBOROUGH, July 17, 2008 (AFP) - European planemaker Airbus announced on Thursday agreement to sell 10 long-haul A350 XWB aircraft to South American consortium Synergy Aerospace in a deal worth 2.1 billion dollars at catalogue prices.

Synergy Aerospace is the main shareholder in Avianca and SAM airlines in Colombia, Oceanair in Brazil and VIP in Ecuador.

Asiana Airlines of South Korea orders 30 A350s

FARNBOROUGH, July 16, 2008 (AFP) - Asiana Airlines of South Korea has ordered 30 long-haul A350 aircraft from European manufacturer Airbus worth 7.2 billion dollars, Airbus announced on Wednesday at the Farnborough Air Show.

The deal also includes an option to purchase 10 additional A350s, with deliveries of the firm orders scheduled to begin 2016, according to Airbus.

Ryanair to buy three more Boeing jets

Russia's KD Avia orders 25 Airbus mid-range planes

Russian airline KD Avia signed on Thursday an order for 25 Airbus A319 mid-range passenger aircraft, which have a total list price of 1.7 billion dollars (1.08 billion euros), the two firms said.

A deal was signed at the Berlin Air Show (ILA) by KD Avia's chief executive Sergei Grishchenko and John Leahy, commercial director of the Franco-German aircraft maker.

Gulf Air orders Airbus jets worth 5 bln dlrs

Bahrain's Gulf Air has ordered 35 Airbus medium- and long-haul aircraft in a deal worth five billion dollars (3.2 billion euros), it was announced here Wednesday.

The order for 15 Airbus A320s and 20 Airbus A330s is worth 'five billion dollars at catalogue prices,' Airbus commercial director John Leahy said at the Berlin Air Show.
