Iran president says US attack 'political suicide' for Bush

KUALA LUMPUR, July 8, 2008 (AFP) - Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said Tuesday that an attack by the United States on Iran would be 'political suicide' for US President George W. Bush.

He also said that the Iranian people stood ready to defend their country in the event of any attempt to close down the nation's nuclear programme.

KUALA LUMPUR, July 8, 2008 (AFP) - The 'D8' group of developing nations Tuesday resolved to boost food production to combat shortages that it said threaten to trigger widespread political unrest.

'We want to cooperate in areas of food production, we want to increase the food supply,' said Malaysian Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi after a one-day summit.
