SEOUL, Oct 4, 2007 (AFP) - The leaders of South and North Korea have agreed on a summit declaration calling for peace and closer economic cooperation which they will sign later Thursday in Pyongyang, a Seoul spokesman said.
President Roh Moo-Hyun, who is paying only the second visit by a South Korean leader to Pyongyang, will sign the declaration with North Korean leader Kim Jong-Il at 1:00 pm (0400 GMT), Roh's spokesman Cheon Ho-Seon said.
KIEV, Oct 3, 2007 (AFP) - Ukrainian President Viktor Yushchenko was to announce Wednesday the formation of a ruling coalition, as pro-Western parties looked almost certain to have won a slim majority in parliamentary elections.
Yushchenko 'will make a statement on the formation of a parliamentary coalition at 12:30 (0930 GMT),' the presidential administration said in a statement.
The declaration was to be aired live on television, the statement said.
SEOUL, Oct 3, 2007 (AFP) - South Korea's president has declined a North Korean offer to extend his summit stay in Pyongyang but the two sides will issue a joint declaration Thursday before he leaves, pool reports said.
North Korean leader Kim Jong-Il had earlier invited Roh Moo-Hyun to stay an extra day in what Seoul saw as a hopeful sign for the summit, only the second in the history of the two countries.
KABUL, Aug 12, 2007 (AFP) - Afghan and Pakistani tribal leaders wrapped up a landmark peace conference here Sunday by agreeing a declaration forbidding any tribe from giving sanctuary to Al-Al Qaeda-linked Islamic militants.
The declaration issued at the end of the four-day 'peace jirga' on stemming the increasing Al-Al Qaeda and Taliban threat in the region said the fight against terrorism must be part of both countries' national policies.
