MANCHESTER, August 6, 2008 (AFP) - Former Thai prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra insists he has no plans to sell Manchester City.

Reports in England on Wednesday claimed Thaksin may be forced to look for a buyer for the Premier League club due to his fight against corruption charges in Thailand.

BOLTON, August 6, 2008 (AFP) - Nigeria defender Danny Shittu joined Premier League club Bolton for an undisclosed fee from Watford on Wednesday.

Shittu, 27, agreed a three-year contract with Gary Megson's team just days after a move to Rangers fell through.

Football: Fulham sign Zuberbuhler

LONDON, August 6, 2008 (AFP) - Fulham signed veteran Swiss goalkeeper Pascal Zuberbuhler on a free transfer from Neuchatel Xamax on Wednesday.

Zuberbuhler, 37, agreed a one-year contract with Roy Hodgson's side after a three-week trial and will serve as back-up for Australia's Mark Schwarzer.

Football: Blackburn sign Santa Cruz's brother

BLACKBURN, August 6, 2008 (AFP) - Blackburn manager Paul Ince has signed the younger brother of the club's Paraguay striker Roque Santa Cruz.

Julio Sana Cruz agreed a three-year contract with the Premier League team, subject to international clearance.

The 18-year-old forward, who played for Cerro Porteno in Paraguay, had been on trial since the end of last season.

Former England coach Fletcher was surprised that the national selectors chose Pietersen to replace Michael Vaughan and Paul Collingwood as Test and one-day skipper because he has so little experience of leading a team.
