WELLINGTON, Aug 10, 2007 (AFP) - Samoa has imported 50,000 condoms for the South Pacific Games later this month, even though just 5,000 people are expected for the event, local media reported Friday.

Athletes and officials will get their own supplies and condoms will also be distributed in bars, nightclubs, restaurants, hotels and the national hospital, officials were quoted as saying.

'Condom use is much more likely when people can access them at no cost, and this is the intention of the committee,' said Neli Wightman, secretary of Samoa's Safe Games committee.

BOGOTA, Aug 5, 2007 (AFP) - A doping test on Colombian cyclist Libardo Nino during last month's Pan-American Games in Rio de Janeiro has shown up positive for banned blood-boosting drug EPO.

Nino, who won silver in the individual time-trial event in the Games and is currently taking part in the Tour of Colombia, protested his innocence.

'It's very tough for me,' said Nino. 'Nevertheless I'm not going to be hiding myself away.
