'Unique' Iron Maiden guitar nabbed during Greek gig

ATHENS, August 6, 2008 (AFP) - Heavy metal group Iron Maiden are looking for a one-off guitar allegedly stolen during a weekend concert in Greece, the group said on their website.

In a message posted on Monday, Iron Maiden noted that the Jackson guitar belonging to guitarist Adrian Smith was missing after Saturday's show and offered a reward of a Maiden tour jacket for its return.

Greek ferry forgets second mate, sails back

ATHENS, August 5, 2008 (AFP) - A Greek ferry had to sail back to the holiday island of Santorini after leaving its second mate on shore, the merchant marine ministry said on Tuesday.

'The second mate had disembarked to deliver the ferry's papers to the port authority and the ship left without him,' a ministry press officer told AFP.

More than 70 illegal immigrants intercepted off Crete

ATHENS, August 2, 2008 (AFP) - A small boat carrying 71 illegal immigrants has been intercepted off the island of Crete, the Greek government said Saturday.

A local maritime police patrol found the immigrants along with four crew off Elafonissi on the west coast, the merchant marine ministry said in a statement.
