UN court to rule on Honduras, Nicaragua border case next month

THE HAGUE, Sept 13, 2007 (AFP) - The UN's highest court said Thursday that it would hand down a judgement on a border dispute between Honduras and Nicaragua on October 8.

The International Court of Justice (ICJ) was asked by the Central American nations to settle the disputed demarcation of the border between the two in the Caribbean Sea.

Both have asked the court to rule they have sovereignty over the islands and cays within the area in dispute at the mouth od the Coco river.

Slovenia, Croatia to seek ICJ ruling on border row

BLED, Slovenia, Aug 26, 2007 (AFP) - Slovenia and Croatia agreed Sunday to take a long-running border row to the International Court of Justice.

'We have agreed to ask the International Court of Justice in The Hague to try to find a solution to the border dispute between the two countries,' Slovenian Prime Minister Janez Jansa said after meeting his Croatian counterpart, Ivo Sanader.

'We reached an agreement in principle that the arbitration should deal with the sea and land border on all the disputed points,' Jansa said.
