Vienna, Tokyo stock exchanges sign cooperation agreement

VIENNA, July 31, 2008 (AFP) - The Vienna and Tokyo stock exchanges signed a memorandum of understanding on Thursday for furthering cooperation between the two markets, the Vienna exchange said in a statement.

Tokyo exchange director Atsushi Saito and his Viennese counterpart Michael Buhl signed the agreement in Tokyo, a spokeswoman told AFP.

Russian stocks fall to four-month low

MOSCOW, July 25, 2008 (AFP) - Russia's benchmark RTS index on Friday hit a four-month low amid investor concern over a threatened probe into metals firm Mechel and a bitter shareholder dispute at British-Russian oil venture TNK-BP.

The RTS index dropped 4.76 points to 1,969 at midday (0800 GMT), falling through the 2,000 points marker for the first time since March.
