Eight arrested as part of British insider trading probe

LONDON, July 29, 2008 (AFP) - Police in London arrested eight people Tuesday in connection with a major investigation by Britain's financial watchdog into insider dealing.

The operation, which involved 40 Financial Services Authority (FSA) staff and officers from City of London Police, saw a number of properties searched across London and southeast England, the FSA said.

Air Berlin letter alleges Dresdner Bank stock manipulation

BERLIN, July 25, 2008 (AFP) - Troubled German carrier Air Berlin has alleged that Dresdner Bank profited at the airline's expense by manipulating its share price, in a letter sent to the stock market watchdog BaFin.

A Dresdner Bank spokeswoman told AFP the bank had received no notification of any allegations from BaFin and therefore would not comment.
